Chief of Defence's Hometown Falls to Boko Haram

Vimtim village, the native town of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, has finally been taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Residents in the area reported on Thursday that the insurgents have sacked locals of the village,
A source who confirmed the incident said before the capture of the Vimtim on Thursday, the military stationed there and the entire villagers were evacuated as the insurgents were having a field day in looting and burning of property.

The takeover of Vimtim came a day after Mubi, the senatorial headquarters, was captured by the insurgents.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Government has dispatched over a hundred buses to comb Mubi and its environs for people trapped and stranded for onward transit to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in the State capital.
