13 year old girl raped in churchyard

St Mark’s Church where the girl was rapped 

Police are hunting for a teenager after a girl was raped in the grounds of a church.

The male, described as in his early teens, approached the girl as she was walking home and forced her into the grounds of St Mark’s Church, Shiremoor, North Tyneside, UK.

The teenage girl was walking along Park Lane when the attack took place at approximately 8pm on October 13.

Northumbria Police said the rape was reported to them on Friday and they have now dispatched additional officers to the area and are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Donna Rose said: ‘This was an extremely traumatic experience for this young girl. We have specially trained officers who are working with her, offering support to her and her family at this difficult time.

‘Reports of this nature are obviously concerning and we’re doing everything possible to establish exactly what happened."
