A pure water truck has rammed into a meat market (Odo-Eran), on Governors’ Road along LASU-Iba expressway Lagos, killing at least 10 persons. The truck which was carrying bags of pure water for distribution reportedly lost control and rammed into stalls at the market which is not far from the road.
An eyewitness, who chose to be identified as Tunde, told reporters that the driver of the bus lost control just as he neared the market. “I want to believe he lost control because there is no plausible explanation for this accident,” said Tunde who arrived the scene shortly after the accident had occurred.
A Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer who was controlling the traffic said that they could not ascertain the cause of the accident. “We have to investigate the crash because we were not here when it happened,” he said.
As at press time, a towing van had arrived the scene to lift the pure water truck.
